Taliesin West, the winter home of the famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is located in Scottsdale at the foot of the McDowell Mountains. Wright moved to the area because of his health, but stayed to develop his property as Taliesin, The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, and later the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. The structure and grounds were basically built and maintained by his students.
Wright once commented while looking out on the valley below, that it almost felt like an under the sea experience with the brilliant blue Arizona sky being the ocean and the desert scape being the sea's vegetation and seaweeds.
Taliesin West is a national historic landmark that touts Wright trademark style of architecture while incorporating details that are uniquely desert oriented. Click Here to learn about daily tours and special events.
